IDAHO SHAKEASPEARE FESTIVAL:THEATER UNDER THE IDAHO SKY

Shakespeare’s most romantic fantasy. A Moliere comedy against the backdrop of 1960s pop culture. A tragedy of star-crossed lovers. These are just some of the theatrical delights you’ll see this summer at Idaho Shakespeare Festival in Boise.

Boiseans are fortunate for having one of the finest theater companies in the country in their own backyard. They can catch all five plays from June 1 through September 29, year after year. The rest of us travel to visit this state-of-the-art amphitheater and experience one of the company’s imaginative productions under the open sky. If you’ve never been to Idaho Shakespeare Festival, dedicate an evening or two to these great productions during your trip; plays overlap so it’s possible to attend two different plays in a single week.

As you enter the Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s outdoor amphitheater, you’ll find a 770-seat facility built to feature the human voice, with a stage backdrop open to the rolling grasslands of a natural habitat reserve along the banks of the Boise River. The theater offers a choice of lawn seating, theater seating and table seating, perfect for spreading out your picnic and uncorking your favorite wine while you watch the play. You may, of course, order a gourmet meal to go at the on-site Cafe Shakespeare.
